Dr. Conlon is Director of Biomedical Informatics and Director of Data Infrastructure for the University of Florida. His responsibilities include development of academic biomedical informatics, expansion and integration of research computing resources, implementation of enterprise resource planning systems, identity and access management and strategic planning for information resources. In this role Dr. Conlon built and led a team of IT professionals that designed and implemented the technical infrastructure for the ERP systems of the university. Previously Dr. Conlon served as Chief Information Officer of the University of Florida Health Science Center where he directed network and video services, desktop support, media and graphics, application development, teaching support, strategic planning and distance learning. Dr. Conlon served as the IAIMS Project Director for UF. He also served as co-principal investigator of INVEST – the International Verapamil/Trandolapril Study, a randomized trial in hypertension of 22,000 patients at 860 sites in fourteen countries. The trial was conducted entirely on-line using Internet-based software designed and developed by a team under Dr. Conlon’s direction and led to a software patent and the formation of a start-up company. He served as the founding webmaster for the American Statistical Association. He earned his Ph.D. degree in Statistics from the University of Florida and undergraduate degrees in Mathematics and Economics from Bucknell University and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He joined the faculty of the University of Florida in 1982. Dr. Conlon has been a principal investigator and co-investigator on numerous federally funded studies and is the author or co-author of over 150 scholarly publications and presentations. His current interests include enterprise change and organizational issues in the adoption of information technology, large scale data systems, enterprise architecture, system integration and computing administration.
